Pda as medicine?
Posted Saturday, 13 Sept 2003
Pda's like the Dell Axim can often make our day to day lives more organized, more productive.  But even at their best, rarely, except perhaps in the hand of a doctor, does a pda have a direct effect on someone's health.

Fortunately, I got a chance to do a bit technological medicine myself.

Revised Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade for the Dell Axim a winner!
Posted Friday, 15 Aug 2003
Dell had a bit of a false start with its Windows Mobile 2003 OS upgrade for the Axim.  There were apparently some incompatabilities between the latest Microsoft OS and the Dell Firmware which impaired some of the Axim functionality with new units running much slower than those using PocketPC 2002.

It would appear however that Dell has fully resolved the issues.  According to Aximsite.com, new Axim units shipping with the fixed upgrade are showing remarkable performance gains.

Posted Sunday, 10 Aug 2003
The Dell Axim is a pretty powerful and portable bit of computing technology, and is capable of a good deal of functionality that the typical user may be unaware.

From authors Rich Hall, Derek Ball, and Barry Shilmover, and published by McGrawHill-Osborne, comes the book How to do everything with your Dell Axim X5 Handheld.   The book covers the basic use and functions of the Axim and the standard PocketPC software, as well as more ambitious tasks such as connecting to a network.

I have looked at other books from this series, and whether you use your pda for business, pleasure, or both, this book should help get the most out of your Axim.   It is much more readable than a manual, and rather than giving

Publish date is set for October 16 and the book can be ordered directly from the publisher or from Amazon for a little less.
