@#$%^&*!! Bluetooth
Posted Monday, 26 MAY 2003
Apparently, we're not the only ones who've had less than a satisfying experience with most Bluetooth devices so far.

David Berlind over at ZDNet has an article which pretty much captures the issues in a nutshell.

"The user experience of configuring, connecting, and engaging in some Bluetooth-related task was entirely different from one device to the next.  In fact, about the only thing that was consistent across the all the devices is that Bluetooth simply didn't work."

Permanent price cuts on the Dell Axim X5
Posted Friday, 23 MAY 2003
Dell has permanently reduced the regular price of the Axim X5 Advanced by $25 and the Axim X5 Basic by $50 to $325 and $199 respectively.  While we've seen lower prices with discounts, this is a permanent price change and could mean the new Axim models are on the way.

Go to DELL to check out the new prices or

Upgrade your Axim memory to 128 MB.
Posted Monday, 12 MAY 2003
Pocket PC Techs have a stacked module upgrade to the Dell Axim.  The upgrade gives the user 64 MB of memory available to the memory manager and an additional 64 MB as an internal storage card for storing programs and data.  Not bad for $99 bucks.  Now, if they would just offer a PXA250 to PXA255 CPU upgrade....

Go to PocketPCThoughts for the news or go order the upgrade at PocketPcTechs.

Update: Monday, 19 May 2003 - AximSite.com has an excellent review of the upgrade on their staff reviews page.

Quebec consumer group attempting to sue Dell Canada over Axim prices!
Posted Monday, 12 MAY 2003
The Union des consommateurs is apparently attempting to sue Dell Canada after the Dell website erroneously listed the Dell Axim PDA's at prices less than a tank of gas in Montreal.  Dell shook up pda prices with its introduction of the Axim, but they are not "literally" just giving them away.
