Enter a name for this specific number. The name should be something recognizable like PrimaryDialup or even the number to be dialed itself. Select the CF-56K_Modem from the modem drop down list. (Note: The CF-56K_Modem entry does not appear in the drop down list until the compact flash modem has been inserted into the expansion slot.) Select 57600 from the Baud rate. This is the maximum baud rate that the connection will use. The actual connection rate will vary depending on the quality of the connection. If you notice that the connection is not stable, you can come back and lower the baud rate.
The Advanced button will take you to a series of screens allowing you to change port settings and specify user-assigned, rather than server-assigned, IP and name server addresses. Do not change these settings unless specifically instructed by your ISP provider or network administrator.

Press the Next button to enter the phone number to be dialed. Enter the number and again press the Next button. This will bring up a second input screen.

|
The second input screen allows you to specify how long to attempt a connection before failing. There is also an option which causes the Connection Manager to wait for a dialtone before attempting a connection. I have actually had better success connecting when this option is unchecked. If you are unable to connect successfully, try changing this setting and then connecting again. There is also an entry for specifying a wait time for a credit card tone and an input field for specifying either a credit card number or a third party long distance service number ( a 10-10-x number for example).
For this case, we will leave the settings as shown.
Press the Finish button to return to the Modem connections screen. You will see the new connection in the list. Pressing the proxy tab will let you enter proxy server information used to connect to the internet. Do not change this unless directed to do so by your ISP or network admin. Press the ok button in the top right corner to complete the Connection setting and return to the Connection Manager screen.
