Configuring input methods.
|
Selecting keyboard from the input method popup creates an onscreen keyboard overlay covering the bottom third of the display.
The user selects the letters, numbers, and symbols from the keyboard with the pda stylus. There are two
special keys for switching the keyboard to a numeric keypad (the 123 key) or a special character keyboard (the AU key).
The other keys function the same as on a standard keyboard.
|
|
The keyboard input options consist primarily of a choice of key size. When Large Keys is selected, the keys are about twenty-five
percent larger, but the top row of numeric keys is removed. Numbers can be entered only by selecting the 123 key, bringing up the numeric
keypad.
|
|
Another option when Large Keys is selected is to replace the space, shift, backspace, and enter keys with gestures or strokes.
So, to make a capital letter Q, the user would tap the letter q on the virtual keyboard followed by an upward stroke.
A subsequent stroke to the right would insert a space after the letter, while a downward stroke would move the cursor to a new
line.
