Configuring the Start Menu
|
|
Clicking the Menus icon, brings up the Start Menu configuration screen. Here the user can select which programs are included in the Start Menu drop down.
All registered applications can be added to the Start Menu, up to a maximum of nine applications. The Today system command is included in the
Start Menu automatically and cannot be removed from the list.
Interestingly, moving an application into the Start Menu subsequently removes the application shortcut from the program screen(or one of its subscreens).
So, if the user adds File Explorer to the Start Menu, its shortcut will no longer appear on the screen when the user clicks on Programs.
Removing the application from the Start Menu, returns the shortcut to the Programs screen.

The new menu settings page is used to control which applications appear in the list when new at the left of the tool bar is pressed.
The action of the new button is context sensitive. On the Today screen, clicking the new button will bring up a list of all
the registered document types, while clicking the new button inside of an application such as Pocket Word will create a
new word document.
Clicking the Turn on the New button menu checkbox puts a small up arrow icon just to the right of the new button.
Pressing the arrow icon brings up the full list of registered document types, regardless of the context.
Selecting a document type from the list will launch the corresponding application. For example,
selecting E-mail Message will launch the Inbox application.
