Pocket PC's whether they are offered by HP, Toshiba, Viewsonic, or even Dell have a number of common features, both hardware, operating system, and applications.
And while this is good in many ways (such as the ability to run the same programs on different pda's), it is for the differences between them that consumers choose a particular vendor
and model.
Even among owners of a particular pda, there will be a variety of preferences regarding how the pda is used in their day-to-day lives. In addition to using accessories, peripherals,
and applications to modify their pda's, owners can fine tune some of the built-in features to better suit their tastes.
To access these features, click the start menu, and select the item just below Programs called "Settings". This will bring up the Personal tab of the Settings screen.
There are seven icons displayed on these screen (eight if the Dell Axim ROM update has been applied - click HERE for more info.)
Clicking the icons allow the pda to be personalized by:
· Assigning applications to the buttons.
· Configuring input methods.
· Configuring the start menu.
· Enabling the Navigation button.
· Entering owner information.
· Setting up password protection.
· Changing system sounds and notification.
· Setting the Today Screen.
